Lady'Back tennis appear at No. 40 in latest ITA rankings

FAYETTEVILLE – Thanks to three solid wins, the University of Arkansas Lady Razorback tennis team jumped thirteen spots to No. 40 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.

“We are definitely moving in the right direction and need to keep pressing forward,” said Lady’Back tennis head coach Michael Hegarty.

Arkansas began their trip to the top forty nationally by defeating Brigham Young, 5-2. BYU was ranked No. 28 at the time. Since that upset, the Lady’Backs have demolished their opponents 6-1 over Utah, and 7-0 against Missouri. While the Lady’Backs currently stand at 3-0, Hegarty believes rankings will be more of a factor as the season goes on.

“It is still very early in the season, so we don’t want to focus on the rankings at the moment. Our ultimate goal is being ranked high in May.”

The Lady’Backs tennis team will be featured at the newly reconstructed Billingsley Tennis Center against Kansas on Saturday at 1 p.m.
