Lady'Back volleyball travles to No. 10 Florida Sunday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –The University of Arkansas volleyball team faces one of its toughest challenges of the 2007 season traveling to No. 10 Florida for Southeastern Conference action Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

Arkansas (10-15, 4-11 SEC) upset then fifth-ranked Florida in Fayetteville earlier this season and now faces the rematch on the Gators’ home court.

“We know what a challenge this will be,” said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole. “Florida is playing for a top eight seed in the country right now and they are just outside of that position. They will be very motivated for this rematch.”

The first match between these teams saw the Lady Razorbacks push Florida to five games eventually winning, 20-18, in the final stanza. Arkansas won the first two games of the match while the Gators picked up wins in games three and four. The Lady’Backs were able to hold off a 14-10 Florida lead in the fifth frame eventually winning the match and downing the Gators for just the second time in Arkansas history.

Since the win over Florida, Arkansas has gone just 1-5 while the Gators have run the table with several convincing wins.

Arkansas’ most recent action was a five-game loss at South Carolina Friday. That match saw several Lady Razorbacks post season or career bests but Arkansas couldn’t find a way to get the win.

The Lady Razorbacks travel again next weekend facing Auburn Nov. 9 and Georgia Nov. 11. Both matches as well as the Florida match will air live in the Northwest Arkansas area on KXUA, 88.3 FM and on the internet at LADYBACKS.COM.

Arkansas returns home hosting Tennessee and Kentucky along with non-conference Connecticut as the 2007 season concludes.
