Lady'Backs get it done in the classroom

FAYETTEVILLE — Twenty-five University of Arkansas female student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 grade-point-averages for the spring semester the Women’s Athletics Department announced today. The 2006 spring semester is the fifth in the last eight in which the Lady Razorbacks have had more than 20 student-athletes earn Women’s Athletic Department Academic Champion honors. Soccer and track and field/cross country highlighted the list with six athletes on each squad with 4.0s. Soccer also topped the team GPA with a 3.51 to lead the department. This semester’s soccer Academic Champions are Christina Burger, Leah Collison, Carrie Dillsaver, Allison Harris, Holly Rosen and Kate Venable. The track and field/cross country Academic Champions are Dacia Barr, Brandy Buss, Maureen Scott, Megan Scott, Penny Splichal and Katie Stripling. Also earning 4.0 GPAs were, from softball: Katy Henry, Rachel LeMaster, Mindy O’Malley and Blaire Perry; from basketball: Melissa Hobbs, Kristin Peoples and Rochelle Vaughn; from gymnastics: Rachel Barnett, Audra Loveless and Dana McQullin; from volleyball: Destiny Clark; from swimming: Angela Kora and from tennis: Lindsey Brown. In addition to the Academic Champions, the Lady Razorbacks had 40 student-athletes named to the Athletic Director’s list with grades ranging between 3.50-3.99. Thirty-nine Lady Razorbacks were selected to the Honor Roll with 3.00-3.49 GPAs last semester.
