Lady'Backs Go West for Border War

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team takes a break from Southeastern Conference play and travels to Tulsa, Okla., for the Border War with Oklahoma State and Tulsa, March 29. The Lady Razorbacks (16-16, 5-7) meet the Cowgirls (14-14, 1-1) at 3:00 p.m. and the Golden Hurricane (21-10, 8-1) at 5:00 p.m.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he is excited about the Border War, especially after the Lady’Back offense was productive at Ole Miss and Florida.

“I think we’re ready,” he said. “We’re starting to hit the ball; we did so on this last road trip”

The Lady’Backs have an 8-4 series lead over Tulsa while they are tied 2-2 with the Cowgirls. Last season in Fayetteville, Arkansas split the Border War with a, 7-2, victory over the Golden Hurricane after falling to OSU, 4-3.

Offensively, junior Rachel LeMaster and senior Blaire Perry lead the team with 29 hits. LeMaster has a team-high .305 batting average while Perry posts a 2.04 ERA. The Lady’Backs recorded their first run-rule and SEC series of the season at Ole Miss, March 21-22.
