Lady'Backs host NGWS Day Clinic

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas Women’s Athletic Department celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day with a clinic for area Girl Scouts Saturday. The annual clinic is slated for an 8:50 a.m. kick off in Barnhill Arena with pre-registered Girl Scouts taking part in mini-clinics for golf, gymnastics, soccer and volleyball while parents will have a discussion panel. This is the third year for the mini-clinics and Chris Pohl, Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, sees the event as a way to reach out to young girls who are just beginning their sporting careers. "This event is a great way to introduce them to sport and its many benefits," said Pohl. "We want to encourage girls to participate in an active and healthy lifestyle whether it’s in organized sport or not." This year’s clinic has more than 100 girls from Northwest Arkansas registered.
