Lady'Backs in Wild West Showdown

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team continues Southeastern Conference play as the Lady Razorbacks meet Louisiana State Wednesday, April 6, for a 5 p.m. doubleheader in Baton Rouge, La. The series ends with the third game at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 7.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he hopes the Lady’Backs can maintain the level of play that they had in their last SEC contest against No. 4 Tennessee, when they face the Tigers, a 2004 College World Series participant.

“I thought we played extremely well,” Pinkerton said. “We put the ball in play. I feel we are getting better. They’re (LSU) struggling but they’re putting the ball in play and scoring runs.”

Sophomore outfielder Rachel LeMaster leads the Lady’Backs with a team-high .395 batting average and 51 hits. Sophomore infielder Kallie Foglesong and freshman infielder Dayna Huckabee recorded doubles in the Tennessee series. Foglesong hit her ninth double, which paces the Arkansas crew.
