Lady'Backs Lewis tied for second after second round

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team posted a second round 297 and are tied for second overall at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tenn., Saturday.

Arkansas is hanging tough with several good teams trailing leader and sixth-ranked Florida by five strokes. The Gators lead the field with a 577 that includes rounds of 289-288. The 20th-ranked Lady Razorbacks (285-297) are tied with No. 14 Purdue (291-291) with 582 and is three strokes ahead of No. 21 Denver (293-292) who is in the clubhouse with a 585.

“We got down early but made a heck of a comeback to finish five strokes behind Florida,” said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes. “We are still in good position to accomplish our goal which is to win the tournament.”

Senior Stacy Lewis continues to lead the Lady Razorbacks. The Woodlands, Texas, native posted an even par 71 and is tied for second overall with a 140 (69-71). Junior Lucy Nunn, who ranked among the leaders after round one, struggled Saturday with a78 but is tied for 20th overall with a 147 (69-78).

Freshman Kelli Shean is tied for 25th overall with rounds of 72-76 for 148. Sophomores Kristin Ingram and Tiffany Phelps round out the Arkansas scores. Ingram is tied for 45 with 151 (75-76) followed by Phelps who is tied for 83rd with 158 (84-74).
