Lady'Backs look to remain undefeated in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – Coming off an opening day win against the Univ. of Tulsa, the University of Arkansas Lady Razorback soccer team hopes to keep an unblemished slate when it faces the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The Lady Razorbacks looked sharp in their preseason win over Baylor and followed it up with a record-setting 5-1 victory over the Golden Hurricane Friday night. Next on the schedule is Oklahoma, a team that Arkansas has had fits with over their six years of competition.

Leading the way for the Lady Razorbacks against Tulsa were Alison Harter and Christina Burger who tallied three goals and three assists between them. Burger was the catalyst for the Lady’Backs in the first half while Harter drove the nail in the coffin as a timely substitute in the second half. As a whole, Arkansas looked much improved on the offensive side of the ball, but Henderson knows that there is room for improvement.

“We are going to play plenty of games this season when we don’t get 16 shots on goal,” Henderson said following Arkansas’ opening day win. “We had 16 shots tonight and only seven on frame and that is something we need to address quickly.”

Last season the Lady Razorbacks hosted Oklahoma at Lady’Back Field and dropped a tough 2-1 decision to the Sooners. Scoreless at the half, Oklahoma got on the scoreboard early in the second half, but 20 minutes later Katie Stauffer tied the score at one. Oklahoma came right back with a score just 52 seconds later and held on for the win.
