Lady'Backs Return to SEC Play Host Florida

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team returns to Southeastern Conference competition Saturday, March 19, as the Lady Razorbacks host Florida at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader at Lady’Back Yard.

This series marks the first conference game for the Gators. The Lady’Backs trail the series 9-13 all-time as Arkansas stole a game in Gainesville, Fla., last season.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he wants the Lady’Backs to get better as they are looking for their first conference win.

“What I would like to see is an improvement in the pitching staff,” Pinkerton said. “I hope they have a solid outing, they’re due.”

Pinkerton said he was pleased with the Lady’Back scoring production in the mid-week conference game as Arkansas tallied 11 runs in the double header.

“I thought offensively we played well,” Pinkerton said. “Defense has been pretty solid all year.”

Sophomore outfielder Rachel LeMaster leads the Lady’Backs with a team-high .378 batting average and 34 hits. Junior catcher Shana Easley and sophomore infielder Kallie Foglesong hit homeruns against Stephen F. Austin, Wednesday.
