Lady'Backs See Red in Intrasquad Meet

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team split into two squads for the Red-White meet, Wednesday, Oct. 5, with the Red team dominating 57-29.

Junior Kristen Thibodeaux and freshman Summer Jackson led the Red team. Thibodeaux won the 200 free and 100 butterfly, while setting a lifetime best. Jackson took top honors in the 50 and 100 free.

Junior Marian Fulop and freshman Jesika Heidloff paced the White team with wins in the 100 back and 100 breast, respectively.

Arkansas swimming head coach Anne Goodman James said she was pleased with the Lady Razorbacks performance especially the newcomers.

“There were some very outstanding swims,” she said. “The freshmen are going to make a major impact on our season. Summer Jackson had a blazing butterfly split in the medley relay. Jesika Heidloff was great in the 100 breast. Elizabeth Engs had a really impressive race in the 200 IM.”

Goodman James said she was happy with Thibodeaux’s showing after missing the 2004-05 season with an injury. Thibodeaux is one of three upperclassmen on the Lady’Back roster.

“She (Thibodeaux) redshirted last year and has made a tremendous comeback,” she said. “She’s on track for a great season.”
