Lady'Backs See Stars at the Yard

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team returns to Lady’Back Yard after three weeks on the road to host Oklahoma City for a doubleheader, Tuesday, April 19 at 5 p.m.

The Lady Razorbacks have not hosted a home game since the Border War March 29 when Arkansas defeated Tulsa 7-2 and fell to Oklahoma State 4-3.

Arkansas head softball coach Jamie Pinkerton wants his squad to maintain the improvement that he’s seen the past month.

“I expect us to continue to play well and continue to get better,” Pinkerton said. “We’ve got to find a way to win those close games.

Pinkerton said he anticipates a challenge from the Oklahoma City crew as the Stars are 36-9 this season. Oklahoma City defeated the Lady’Backs last season 1-0 and 5-1 in Fayetteville, but Arkansas leads the series 10-5-1.

“They’re (Oklahoma City) going to be well-coached and play well so we can’t take a day off,” Pinkerton said.

Sophomore Rachel LeMaster leads the Arkansas offense with a .399 batting average and 63 hits. LeMaster is currently tied for fifth on the school list for hits in a season.
