Lady'Backs Sign Three Swimmers

FAYETTEVILLE-University of Arkansas swimming head coach Anne Goodman James announced the signing of three national letters of intent during the early signing period. Next year’s class of Lady Razorbacks include Macey Webb, Jesika Heidloff and Liz Engs. Goodman James said she was happy with the Lady’Backs that will invade Fayetteville next fall. “Not only were we able to bring in some outstanding people, but we were able to fill our most needed events on the team,” Goodman James said. “For the past several years, we have struggled in the breaststroke events. With the signings of both Jesika Heidloff and Liz Engs, we have given our team the needed talent and depth in that area.” Cambridge, Ontario, Canada native, Liz Engs was a 2004 Canadian Olympic Trials Qualifier and a six-time Ontario Provincial Champion. Goodman James said Engs brings a skill that will enhance the Lady’Backs in conference meets. “Liz’s national level competitive experience in Canada has prepared her well for the intensity of Division I swimming,” Goodman James said. “She excels with tough competition, so the Southeastern Conference should help her bring out her best.” The Lady’Backs added another breaststroke specialist in Heidloff, who was a two-time member of the Washington State Team Champions. Goodman James said Heidloff, the first Arkansas commitment, should provide the Lady’Backs with leadership. “As a U.S. National Qualifier, Jesika also has the competitive experience to prepare her well for Division I, SEC competition,” Goodman James said. “She is a great short course swimmer, with solid turns and quick stroke tempo.” Two-time all-American Macey Webb adds depth in the freestyle events for the Lady’Backs. “We are thrilled to add Macey Webb’s enthusiasm for team to our program,” Goodman James said. “She fills a much needed place as a distance freestyler.” For more information on Arkansas swimming and diving, log on to www.ladybacks.com.
