Lady'Backs to Cage the Bears

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team travels to Springfield, Mo., for a doubleheader, Wednesday, April 13, as the Lady Razorbacks meet Southwest Missouri State at 3 p.m.

Arkansas head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he expects the Bears to be primed to play the Lady’Backs especially after Arkansas defeated SMS 5-0 in a fall tournament in Fayetteville.

“The SMS coaches are always going to have their players ready to play,” Pinkerton said. “They are well coached and well prepared.

Before an off-weekend, the Lady’Backs won their first Southeastern Conference game of the year when Arkansas beat Louisiana State 5-3 in Baton Rouge.

Pinkerton said the LSU series was a learning experience for the Lady’Backs as it was only Arkansas’ fifth victory over the Tigers.

“LSU was a great win for us,” Pinkerton said. “We had a lead in all three games. I was really proud of how the kids competed in the LSU series.”

Sophomore outfielder Rachel LeMaster leads the Lady’Backs at the plate with 56 hits and a .400 batting average. She also has a team-high 15 stolen bases.
