Lady'Backs to Host No. 13 Georgia

FAYETTEVILLE-Coming off its sweep of Centenary College, the University of Arkansas (12-22, 0-9) softball team prepares to host No. 13 Georgia (25-7, 9-0), Friday, March 25 for a Southeastern Conference doubleheader at 5 p.m. The series finale is Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs lead the series 9-11 all-time with Georgia winning the series last year in Athens, Ga., the Lady Razorbacks have not defeated Georgia since 2001.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he understands the challenge that the Bulldog pose for his Lady’Backs.

“Georgia is a very good team,” Pinkerton said. “They’re hot and they’re playing extremely well. Our focus is to try to keep the ball in the ballpark. We need to have good pitching.”

Sophomore outfielder Rachel LeMaster paces the Lady’Backs at the plate with a .396 batting average and 42 hits. In the second game of the Centenary doubleheader, freshman infielder Dayna Huckabee recorded two home runs. Huckabee’s accomplishment ties the school record for the most home runs in an individual game. Cortney Mitchell first set the mark at Coastal Carolina in 2002.
