Lady'Backs to Support Local Shelter

FAYETTEVILLE-Five University of Arkansas swimmers and two coaches are supporting the Northwest Arkansas community as they participate in the Peace at Home Open Water Swim at Beaver Lake, Saturday, Aug. 27. The beach start begins at 9:00 a.m.

Senior Angela Kora, juniors Mariann Fulop and Kristen Thibodeaux, freshmen Emily Fletcher and Lonnie Strange are joining area residents in the swim to raise money for the women and children’s shelter. Head coach Anne Goodman is working on the safety crew while assistant coach Benji DeMotte is swimming.

Goodman James said she is proud of the members of the squad that are giving back to the community while also focusing on their sport.

“Our team members enjoy being a part of the community here in Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas and have participated with many activities with area youth,” she said. “I am pleased that Angela, Kristen, Mariann, Emily and Lonnie stepped up to do this.”
