Lady'Backs To Welcome High School All-Star Week

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas will once again serve as host to the 2005 High School All-Star Week welcoming prepsters from all over the state in mid-June. All-Star week begins Tuesday, June 21, with a baseball game at Baum Stadium and a pair of soccer matches at Lady’Back Field. Baseball begins at 5:00 p.m., and the girls’ soccer match is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start, followed by the boys’ game at 8:00 p.m., under the lights. Lady’Back Field is home to the Lady Razorback soccer team and head coach Gordon Henderson. Henderson is beginning his second season at the helm of the Lady’Backs after guiding Arkansas to a much-improved 6-11-2 overall record and a 2-7-2 mark in Southeastern Conference play. All-Star action continues Wednesday with softball and volleyball. Lady’Back Yard hosts two softball games slated for 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m., starts while Barnhill Arena welcomes the volleyball All-Star match beginning at 7:00 p.m., that same evening. Lady’Back Yard has been the site of several noteworthy events and is home to the Lady Razorback softball team who is entering their 10th season in 2005-06. The Lady Razorbacks posted 11 of their 19 wins at home last year under first-year head coach Jamie Pinkerton. Barnhill Arena welcomes the All-Star volleyball match again this year. Last year’s All-Star match featured a pair of future Lady’Backs including Russellville’s Kelli Cole who is a sophomore for Arkansas this year. The Lady’Backs were 10-4 overall in Barnhill last season and have never had a losing season on their home court. All-Star week continues Thursday at Bud Walton Arena as the campus hosts a girls game at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys’ competition at 8:00 p.m. The high school football game concludes All-Star week at Razorback Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
