Lady'Backs Travel to Bluegrass State

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team travels to Kentucky for a Southeastern Conference series beginning Friday, April 14, at 5:00 p.m., in Lexington, Ky. The series concludes Saturday with a doubleheader at noon.

The Lady Razorbacks (19-25, 5-12) defeated Missouri State, 5-1 and 1-0, April 11. The Wildcats (18-22, 2-16) have a doubleheader at Indiana, April 12.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said the Lady’Backs need a repeat performance of the sweep of the Bears.

“If we get solid pitching and play like we did against Missouri Sate for seven innings, we’ll be fine,” he said. “It’s going to come down to the team who gets timely hitting and doesn’t make the critical mistakes.”

The Lady’Backs lead the all-time series over the Wildcats 15-9. Last season in Fayetteville, Arkansas swept the series, 10-2 in sixth innings, 4-0 and 10-2 in five innings.

Senior Mindy O’Malley guides the offense with a .266 batting average and 34 hits. Senior Blaire Perry follows with a .262 average and 33 hits. In the circle, sophomore Katy Henry posts a 2.11 ERA.
