Lady'Backs Travel to Bluegrass State Meet Kentucky and Louisville

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team concludes Southeastern Conference regular season competition as the Lady Razorbacks meet Kentucky and Louisville, Saturday, Jan. 22 at noon in Lexington, Ky.

Head coach Anne Goodman James said her team is exciting about the opportunity to close conference competition on a high note.

“We’re really looking forward to the competitive situation at Kentucky,” Goodman James said. “Kentucky is a well-balanced team especially strong in the breaststroke events, one of our weakest areas. They have outstanding talent and depth.”

Goodman James said she thinks the Louisville squad very much resembles the Lady’Backs and she anticipates a close meet.

“They have strengths in some of the places we do,” Goodman James said.

Kentucky poses more of a challenge with the Wildcats pushing Arkansas in its strongest events, Goodman James said.

“I think the best competitive situations against Kentucky will be in diving, sprint freestyle, 200 fly and distance freestyle, which will be the most exciting all the way around,” Goodman James said. “Both teams have some strong competitors in the distance freestyle events and our Whitney Lynn should lead the 500 and 1,000 free.”

The Lady’Backs have three athletes who have qualified for the postseason with seniors Whitney Lynn, Zsuzsa Csobanki and freshman Brieanne Kushner making cuts for the NCAAs.
