Lady'Backs Travel to Tiger Territory

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team (10-14, 0-3) continues Southeastern Conference play as the Lady Razorbacks travel to Auburn, Ala., for their first road SEC contest. Arkansas meets the Auburn Tigers (24-6) Saturday, March 12, for a noon doubleheader at Jane B. Moore Field. The series finale is at noon Sunday, March 13.

The Lady’Backs lead the all-time series 18-11 but the Tigers won the 2004 series in Fayetteville. While the Lady’Backs opened conference play with South Carolina in a mid-week match-up, this is the first conference series for Auburn.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said the Lady’Backs need to improve in a few areas after the conference opener.

“I think the key for us is to get consistent pitching,” Pinkerton said. “Defensively, we are going to have to be clean. In the South Carolina series, we made a couple of mistakes that cost us runs. We’re going to have to make adjustments earlier in the ball game.”

Junior catcher Shana Easley led the Lady’Backs in the conference opener as she was 5-for-9 with a double and a home run.
