Larabee in Ohio

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas head softball coach Mike Larabee is in Ohio this week serving as an assistant coach for the USA Softball Futures team.

Larabee and the Futures team join the USA Softball Women’s National team as they begin final preparations for the International Softball Federation XII Women’s World Championship.

The two teams work out together and then play a pair of exhibition games at the end of the week in Canton, Ohio, and Ashland, Ohio. The exhibitions are the only opportunity to see the two National Teams in the United States with the exception of the 2010 KFC World Cup of Softball presented by Six Flags, July 22-26, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Several members of the Futures team are fresh off a final four appearance in the NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., heading into the Ohio exhibitions including: Arizona’s Kenzie Fowler (Tucson, Ariz.), Brittany Lastrapes (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and Lauren Schutzler (Monterey, Calif.); Tennessee’s Raven Chavanne (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and UCLA’s Megan Langenfeld (Bakersfield, Calif.), the WCWS Most Outstanding Player.
