Lavy eliminated

PINEHURST, N.C. – University of Arkansas redshirt freshman Emma Lavy was eliminated Friday at the 108th Women’s North & South Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.

Lavy, a Fayetteville, Ark., native finished stroke play tied for 18th overall and won her first three matches moving into today’s quarterfinals.

Friday’s match pitted Lavy against one of the best amateur players in the country in Cydney Clanton. Playing Pinehurst No. 2, Lavy was solid from the opening hole.

But Clanton was even better. Back-to-back birdies by Clanton and a bogey on the third hole all but sealed Lavy’s fate early in the match as she was 3-down to start.

Lavy fell to 4-down at the turn and dropped to 5-down on the 10th hole. Lavy rallied winning the 11th and 12th holes and playing event on the 13th. Lavy dropped the 15th hole falling to 5-down and ending the match.
