PINEHURST, N.C. — Emma Lavy, Oliva Lavy, Regina Plasencia and Summar Roachell represented the University of Arkansas women’s golf team at the 111th Women’s North and South Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, N.C. Tournament play began Tuesday with the first of two rounds of stroke play before competitors move on to match play as the event progresses. Emma Lavy shot a three over 75 in the first round and aped a 76 in the second round and is tied for 47th after two rounds of stroke play.& Lavy began her day on the 10th tee and was up and down for the first nine with three bogeys and three birdies to turn even. She picked up four bogeys on the front side and is well inside the cut for match play.& Lavy was tied for 34th after the first round.& Lavy opened with back-to-back bogeys on the second and third holes but rallied with a birdie on the fifth to move to one-over yesterday.& She struggled with a couple more bogeys before turning plus-three.& The Fayetteville, Ark., native eventually found herself at plus-five before recovering with birdies on the 15th and 17th holes to finish at three-over in the first round. Lavy tees off at 7:24 a.m. to begin match play. Incoming freshman Summar Roachell also made the cut with rounds of 79-73 to tie for 53rd overall in stroke play. Roachell also started on the back nine and was two-over on the first side.& She had two birdies and a bogey on the back nine but will advance in the championship flight of match play. Roachell tees off at 7:42 a.m. Sophomore-to-be Regina Plasencia and redshirt freshman Oliva Lavy were both competing but did not advance.
