DAHLONEGA, Ga. — The Univerisity of Arkansas tandem of Emma Lavy and Emily Tubert played one-over golf and are tied for seventh after first round action at the Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship presented by the National Golf Coaches Association Tuesday. The duo are taking part in a unique team event that opens with an alternate shot format, followed by best ball on Wednesday and team stroke average on Thursday before a champion is crowned. Lavy, a Fayetteville, Ark., native and Tubert, a Burbank, Calif., native, teamed up for a 73 and are five strokes back of the leaders after the first day of play. As a team, Lavy and Tubert played the front nine three over with bogeys on two, three and seven but they rallied with four consecutive birdies down the stretch getting back into the top 10 on the leaderboard. Five teams played the par 72, 6,155-yard Achasta, by Reynolds championship course under par paced by pairs from the University of Kentucky and Michigan State who were both four-under. The Virginia team is third at three under followed by the Mississippi B team at two-under and Colorado at one-under. Louisville is event followed by Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Michigan State B, Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt B and Wisconsin B all tied for seventh at one-over. Lavy and Tubert tee off at 8:30 a.m. central for the second round of play. Victoria Vela and Meagan Roberts teamed up in 2010 to represent the Razorbacks at this event.
