Lavy, Vela play at Pinnacle

ROGERS, Ark. — University of Arkansas women’s golfers Emma Lavy and Victoria Vela tee it up Monday as part of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship qualifier at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark. Lavy, a redshirt sophomore, and Vela, a junior, tee off at 1 p.m., looking to finish in the two spots to advance into the Championship Friday. In addition to Lavy and Vela, former Razorbacks Kelli Shean Rackley and Amanda McCurdy are scheduled to take part in the event. Tournament organizers are expecting between 15-20 women in the qualifier. If any of the current or former Razorbacks advance, they will join current Razorback Emily Tubert Friday. Tubert received a sponsor’s exemption to compete on Friday. Former Razorback Stacy Lewis, a current LPGA touring professional, is in the midst of her best year on tour and will also take part in the event. “This is one of the best LPGA events of the whole season,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said. “To have this in what is essentially our hometown provides a lot of motivation and inspiration for our team, especially early in our season. “This is a really neat experience and I think that both Vickie and Emma will have an advantage with their course knowledge.”
