Lewis 12th after Satuday's play at the Kraft Nabsico Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – University of Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis came off the golf course 12th after third round action at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif., Saturday. The Woodlands, Texas, native posted a one-over 73 and was 12th with a 217 (71-73-73). Lewis opened on the front nine. She bogeyed the third hole but made up for it with a three on the par-four sixth playing the front side of the course even. Lewis ticked off nine consecutive pars until stumbling on the 16th hole taking a five on the par 4. She finished one-over on the day on the 6,673-yard course at Mission Hills Country Club. Defending champion Karrie Webb is tied for 19th overall with a 220 (70-77-73). Annika Sorenstam is tied for 33rd with a 222 (75-76-71). Suzann Pettersen (72-69-71) and Se Ri Pack (72-70-70) lead the field with 212. Paula Creamer (73-67-73) and Meaghan Francella (72-72-69) are tied for third with 213. Lewis is the highest placing amateur in the field. Georgia’s Taylor Leon is tied for 60th overall with 227 with rounds of 76-77-74. Lewis’ collegiate career includes back-to-back first team all-Southeastern Conference and all-American honors. She was the SEC Championship medalist at the 2005 SEC Championship and finished ninth overall at last year’s NCAA Championship posting a course record 66 in the final round of play. She is coming off a stellar summer amateur season in which she was the top-ranked amateur player in the nation for much of the summer. Lewis finished 2006 as the Golf World Amateur of the Year. Lewis also received an exemption to play in last year’s Owens Corning Jamie Farr Classic in Ohio. She did not make the cut in her only other LPGA appearance.
