Jump to bracket ORLANDO, Fla. — The 22nd-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team upset No. 16 Purdue, 3-2-0, advancing to the second round of the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship in Orlando, Fla., Friday morning. Arkansas got wins from junior Stacy Lewis and freshmen Tiffany Phelps and Alex Schulte edging the Boilermakers and propelling the team into a showdown with top-ranked Georgia Friday afternoon. Lewis, the top-ranked amateur in the nation largely due to her match play ability, defeated Purdue’s Maria Hernandez, 3 & 2. The match was square through four holes when Lewis birdied a par three taking a lead she would not surrender. Schulte defeated Purdue’s Whitney Frykman 2 up. She also grabbed an early lead and never trailed in the match. Phelps’ match was more dramatic with a come-from-behind surge. Phelps defeated Stephanie Oukeo 2 & 1 squaring the match on the 16th hole and taking the lead on the 17th hole and holding on for the win. "They’re kinda fired up," said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. "It was a lot of fun this morning and the win sets us up against Georgia this afternoon. Stacy actually faces the player that beat her in the North and South Championship last summer and it should be very exciting."
