FAYETTEVILLE — Neither rain or dread of night can slow the 2007 NCAA national champion Stacy Lewis in her quest to be on top of every leader board and this week at the U.S. Women’s Amateur is no exception. Lewis and teammate Kristin Ingram both teed off yesterday in first round action at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., but heavy rains and darkness forced the postponement of the round. The duo finished this morning and then teed off for their second round. Lewis came out in good standing and is tied for the overall lead. The Woodlands, Texas, native was one-under through her first nine as she started the day. She finished at two-under with a 70 for the first round. She then tied the lowest round of the day with a 69 in the second round for a 139. Lewis is tied for the top spot with Kristina Wong of Vestal, N.Y.
