Lewis leads Lady'Backs at Jeannine McHaney Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE — Freshman Stacy Lewis continued to play well and leads after first round action at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas, Friday. The Woodlands, Texas, native ended the first day with a tournament low 68, four-under. Lewis finished the first three holes even at par before turning in three birdies in the last six holes before the turn. Shooting a 69, three-under, is Notre Dames’ Katie Brophy sitting in second-place on the leader board. As a team the Lady Razorbacks are in fifth place carding a 301. The Lady’Backs trail Southern Methodist who surprised the field with a 291. Top-ranked Missouri is in second with a 295, followed by No. 30 Notre Dame at 296. Fifteenth-ranked Oklahoma is fourth at 298 followed by the Lady’Backs. "Stacy continues her absolutely fabulous play," said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. "Courtney (Mahon) also rebounded well today. We have a ways to go but I think we can play this golf course well and we’re ready to tee it up again tomorrow." Junior Lindsey Hinshaw traveled with the team to compete as an individual and fired a 73 to tie for ninth place overall. Mahon fired a 76, followed by senior Lina Axelsson with a 78. Junior Amanda McCurdy counted a 79, followed by senior Sarah Trew’s 80 after the first round of play.
