Lewis moves into lead at Bryan National

BROWNS SUMMITT, N.C. – University of Arkansas senior Stacy Lewis fired a three-under par 69 moving into the lead after the second round of the Bryan National in Browns Summitt, N.C.

Arkansas improved as a team carding a 302 moving up to a tie for fifth overall with a two-day 607 (305-302). Lewis finished the front nine at two-under with birdies on one, four and six and a bogey on the par four seventh. She played the back nine even until her fourth birdied on the 15th hole dropping her to three-under on the day.

“It was a hard day again,” said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. “It was freezing cold. It was tough out there but what a great round again by Stacy. Our goal is to go out there Sunday and finish strong. If we can do that we’ll move up the leader board.”

Freshman Kelli Shean moved up in the standings with a 75 and is tied for 26th overall with a 153. Junior Lucy Nunn posted a 77 improving one stroke from the first round. Nunn is tied for 41st overall with a 155 (78-77). Freshman Alex Schulte shot 83 and is tied for 62nd with a 162 (79-83) followed by sophomore Kristin Ingram with a second-day 81. She is tied for 62nd with 162 (81-81).

“I’m really proud of Kelli,” said Estes-Taylor. “And Lucy hit 14 of 18 greens. It’s supposed to be cold and windy Sunday but our goal is to get it in and get it done.”

Top-ranked Duke continues to lead the field at 598 (294-304) after a second-round 304. Southeastern Conference rival and fifth-ranked Florida is second at 599 (298-301), followed by No. 11 Auburn (301-303) at 604,No. 42 Furman (301-304) with 604 and the two-way tie for fifth between the 11th-ranked Gym’Backs and No. 23 Virginia (302-305) with 607.

Number 15 Wake Forest, No. 20 Michigan State, No. 37 North Carolina and No. 18 Tennessee round out the top 10. The Lady Razorbacks continue play Sunday in the final round prior to the SEC Championships in April. For more information about Lady Razorback golf, please log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
