Lewis named Golfweek Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas senior Stacy Lewis was named Golfweek.com Player of the Week after her thrilling come-from-behind win at the Stanford Intercollegiate last weekend.

The Woodlands, Texas, native counted rounds of 69-72-70 for a two-under 211 edging Arizona State’s Jennifer Osborn by a stroke. The victory is the first of the season for the defending NCAA Champion after a pair of third place showings in the first two outings.

"Stacy manages her game so well," said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes. "If she gets her putter hot, I think she’s almost unbeatable."

Lewis’ success is paired with the team’s success as the Lady Razorbacks vaulted up to seventh place in the latest Golfweek poll. The Lady Razorbacks opened the year with back-to-back third place finishes and captured fourth place at Stanford last weekend with wins over notable teams ranked ahead of Arkansas.

"That was one of the toughest fields we’ve seen in quite a while," said Estes. "We really played well in the final round and it was a total team effort."

The Lady Razorbacks return to the links this weekend for the final event of the fall season with the UA Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate, an event co-hosted by Alabama and Auburn, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
