FAYETTEVILLE – Junior All-American Kelci Lewis has been named to the Southeastern Conference’s Community Service Team, the league has announced.
Lewis, who is from Collinsville, Okla., earned second-team All-America honors last year on floor.
This year, she has recorded career highs on vault (9.875), beam (9.75) and floor (9.90). She’s also had two 9.875s on floor, placing second against Minnesota and third against Oklahoma. Lewis’ 9.875 vault helped Arkansas set a school record with 197.225 points against LSU.
Lewis, a kinesiology major who was Arkansas’ co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011, is a member of Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has participated in the Razorback Leadership Academy.
In the community, she has participated in the Sweat Hawgs program to encourage physical fitness to elementary students, Book Hogs Read to Win program to encourage reading to elementary students, the SEC Together We Can food drive, the Salvation’s Army Angel Tree program, Shop with SAAC for Christmas, Lift Up America to feed the hungry in Northwest Arkansas, serving food and helping clean up at the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter, the America Heart Walk, Run for Love event, walking dogs and cleaning up at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, the Santa Meet awards program for a youth gymnastics event, the Book Hogs pizza party in Bud Walton Arena, assisting participants in a Miracle League baseball game, National Reading Day at Baker Elementary, a Back to School block party, Vance Wilson’s celebrity bowling event, Reading with the Razorbacks at the Fayetteville Public Library and the Birthday Party with the Gym’Backs, among many others.
Lewis has earned multiple National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women All-Scholar honors, and several SEC and UA honor roll honors.
Lewis and the 10th-ranked Razorbacks compete in the SEC Championship on Saturday in Duluth, Ga., at 4 p.m.
Arkansas is back home in Barnhill Arena on April 7 to play host to the NCAA South Central Regional. Tickets for the regional are $10 for adults. A $5 ticket is available for youth/students, everyone 18 and younger or with a valid UA student ID. A family plan is also available, including two adult and two youth tickets for $25.
