Lewis one-over at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis finished with a one-over 72 in second round action at the 2007 Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger Friday. Lewis came off the golf course tied for 53rd overall with a 143 (71-72) and is in good position to make the cut as the top 72 golfers advance to Saturday and Sunday’s play. "I didn’t hit the ball as well today," said Lewis, "but I knew I was close to the number I needed. I was glad to get the birdie on 17." Lewis got out to a slow start on the par 71, 6,428-yard Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio. She pared the first two holes but bogeyed the long par-four third hole, a hole she also bogeyed in the first round. Lewis rallied on the par-three sixth hole carding a two and returning to even for her round. But that stroke came right back on the following hole with Lewis counting a six on the par-five and she would make the turn at one-over. Lewis picked up another stroke on the 11th hole and played two-over for much of the back nine until the timely birdie on the 17th hole. "Stacy had another solid round today," said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes. "She miss-hit a couple shots early but hung in there. She had some key up-and-downs and put herself in good position to make the cut." Se Ri Pak continues to lead the field carding a three-under 68 to pair with Thursday’s 63. Pak is at 11-under with a 131 leading the 141-player field. Play continues Saturday and Sunday. For more information log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
