Lewis' Second Round At U.S. Women's Open Postponed By Rain

FAYETTEVILLE – The second round of the 62nd U.S. Women’s Open was suspended by rain Friday afternoon keeping Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis from beginning her second round of play. The U.S.G.A. hopes to resume the second round Saturday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. EDT with the third round to tentatively begin at 3:30 p.m. EDT in groups of three off both tees. Lewis’ tee time for round two will be approximately 9:09 a.m. EDT begins on the 10th tee. Play was halted twice Friday with the final delay beginning at 1:47 p.m. EDT at which point only 23 of the 155 golfers were able to complete their second round.

Scores posted so far in round 2 have been higher with Lewis’ 7-over par score moving her up from a tie for 113th to a tie for 89th before even playing shot in round 2. After the completion of round 2 the field will be reduced to the 60 lowest scores including anyone tied for 60th place as well as any players within 10 strokes of the leader. Angela Park is the leader at 3-under par but she has yet to begin her second round though the projected cut is currently 8-over par. NBC’s coverage of the weekend action airs from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
