Lewis tied for 54th after first round action at the JFOCC

Jump to complete first round results SYLVANIA, Ohio – University of Arkansas junior golfer Stacy Lewis shot a one-over 72 in her opening round at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Thursday. Lewis, a Woodlands, Texas, native, is the first Lady Razorback golfer to participate in an LPGA event, and is playing on a sponsor’s exemption at the tour event hosted by the Highland Meadows Golf Club. She finished the day tied for 54th overall in the field of nearly 150 participants. Lewis opened the day even through the first five holes before a birdie on the par-3 sixth that brought her through the turn at one-under. She moved to even with a bogie on 11, then parred the next three holes before a bogie on the par-4 15th. Among the other early golfers participating in the Corning Classic were LPGA hall of famer Nancy Lopez who turned in a first round 81. The mid-afternoon leader was Lisolette Neumann at six-under 65. Neumann, who has 14 career wins and is 16th on the LPGA money list, carded eight birdies in the first round of the four-day event on the par-71, 6,408-yard course. Lewis, one of only two amateurs in the field,remains paired with Angela Jerman who opened with a plus-five 76, and Sun Young You who matched Lewis’ round with a one-over 72.
