FAYETTEVILLE – After helping Arkansas start its Southeastern Conference soccer season 2-0 over the weekend, Razorback goal keeper Emily Lillard has been named the SEC’s Freshman of the Week.
Arkansas is one of only three teams in the league to begin conference play 2-0. The Razorbacks beat Ole Miss, 2-1 in overtime, on Friday and Mississippi State, 1-0, on Sunday.
Senior forward Kailey Anders had both assists in Friday’s win with freshmen Jeri Ann Okoro and Beth Stratton scoring goals.
Junior forward Allie Chandler had the only score in Sunday’s victory over the Bulldogs.
Lillard played every minute of both games in goal and was credited with both victories. She played 182:20 total minutes and allowed just one goal while recording 11 saves.
Her goals against average for the week was 0.49 while her save percentage was .917.
One weekend into league play and Arkansas is second in SEC games only with 17.5 shots per game, first in goals against average, tied for first in goals allowed, second in corners and tied for first in shutouts.
Individually, Chandler leads the league in shots (14) and shots per game (7.0), Anders is tied for third in assists (1.0), and Lillard is first in goals against average (0.49), second in save percentage (.917), tied for first in shutouts and tied for third in saves.
Overall, Arkansas is third in saves (5.33) while Anders and Chandler are tied for fifth in shots (3.89) and Lillard is second in saves per game (5.22).
Arkansas is tied for the SEC lead overall and in the Western Division with Auburn and LSU. The Razorbacks are 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2008.
The Razorbacks are home again this week, facing Georgia on Friday at 7 p.m. and Tennessee on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Razorback Field.
The Georgia contest is being televised by Fox Sports Net, which is Fox Sports Southwest in Arkansas.
