Jump to results FAYETTEVILLE — The eighth-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team completed a suspended match falling to Texas A&M but rallied defeating Stanford at the 2005 Hooters Match Play Championship at Howie-In-The-Hills, Fla., Saturday. Arkansas completed Friday’s match against Texas A&M after darkness suspended play Friday. The Lady’Backs, a three-seed in the tournament, fell 3-2, to the sixth-seeded Aggies sending Arkansas to a consolation B bracket. The Lady’Backs downed 10th-seeded Stanford 3-2 to move on to Sunday’s play. "I wish it could have gone differently against Texas A&M," said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester, "but hopefully it will push us and make us better." In fact it did with senior Amanda McCurdy, sophomore Stacy Lewis and freshman Lucy Nunn all winning their matches to advance the Lady’Backs. McCurdy, an El Dorado, Ark., native, defeated Stanford’s Lauren Todd, 5 and 3, leading for much of the contest. Lewis defeated Ki Shui-Liao 4 and 3, while Nunn clinched the win for Arkansas with a 3 and 2 win over Stephanie Lue. McCurdy has won all three of her matches this weekend while Lewis, Mahon and Nunn have won two each. "The team had the wind knocked out of our sails, after the A&M match 00 big rivals. Literally came down to one putt. It was hard to swallow and I’m proud of the way we bounced back in the afternoon. I’m very pleased with their play." McCurdy and Lewis, playing together in the pairings, collected nine total birdies playing just 15 holes. "They both played pretty well," said Hester. "Court also played well and it came down to the last hole with her opponent sinking the winning putt. "Lucy was also crucial for us," added Hester. "It sealed the win." The Lady Razorbacks face the winner of the Southern California/Michigan State match in Sunday’s final round. "It’s going to be a good match regardless of who we play," said Hester. "We don’t have any plans to change our game plans. We’re just going to go out and win as many holes as possible."No. 3 Arkansas defeated No. 10 Stanford, 3-2
