LITTLE ROCK – Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long talked Razorback Football, Southeastern Conference expansion and about the changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics to a ballroom full of football fans at the Little Rock Touchdown Club on Monday. Long was the featured speaker at the club’s meeting held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in West Little Rock. During his approximately 40 minute speech, Long credited Razorback fans for their support of the Southwest Classic and the tremendous response to the Red, White and Blue Out held in conjunction with the commemoration of the 10-year anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, at the New Mexico game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Long expressed his approval of the addition of Texas A&M as the 13th member of the Southeastern Conference . However, Long did note that the Aggies addition and a new league football schedule may make it difficult to maintain the Southwest Classic in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Monday marked the third-consecutive year Long has addressed the Little Rock Touchdown Club. Long was also a featured speaker at the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club earlier his fall.
