Lopez Earns First-Team All-America Honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas junior Gabriela Lopez earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association First-Team All-America honors, the organization announced today.

The 11 member first-team includes Lopez, the NCAA individual champion Emma Talley from the University of Alabama, and the world’s No. 1 amateur Leona Maguire from Duke University.

Several factors go into selection for All-America honors including head-to-head competition, comparison with common opponents, scoring average, place finishes in regular season events, tournament wins and strength of schedule.

The selection is the third first-team honor for Lopez and she joins Stacy Lewis and Emily Tubert as the program’s only three-time first-team honorees.

The Mexico City, Mexico, native is coming off an NCAA Championship runner-up finish where she posted a final round, bogey-free 66 on Monday.  Lopez is currently ranked No. 5 by Golfweek.com with a 70.54 rating through 11 events.  She has 50 wins against players in the top 25, 110 versus the top 50 and 213 against the top 100 players.

The second-team and honorable mention All-America teams will be announced at the conclusion of the NCAA Championship.
