Luigs Named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Jonathan Luigs has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance Saturday in the Razorbacks’ 44-8 win over Ole Miss.

Luigs graded out at a team-high 90 percent on 62 snaps played against the Rebels. He graded out at 88 percent in run blocking and 94 percent in pass blocking. The junior lineman also totaled two knockdown blocks against Ole Miss. The Arkansas offensive line allowed just one sack during the game.

The Little Rock native helped the Razorbacks rack up 437 yards of total offense, including 293 yards on the ground. The Hogs are tops in the conference averaging 293.1 rushing yards per game, which is also good for fourth in the nation.

“Jonathan has really been a guy we lean on,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “He is the quarterback of our offensive line. He does all the little things. He is a valuable, valuable lineman for us. He leads by example. He practices hard and he is a really good football player.”

This is the second SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor of Luigs’ career. He was also recognized last season following the Razorbacks’ win over Auburn.
