Luncheon previews NCAA regional

FAYETTEVILLE – A luncheon featuring Arkansas gymnastics co-head coaches Mark and René Cook is set for Wednesday at Fayetteville Country Club at 11:30 a.m.

The Cooks will recap the past month and preview this week’s NCAA West Regional at UCLA. Arkansas is the second seed while No. 3 UCLA is the top seed. Other teams in the regional are No. 17 Iowa State, No. 21 Arizona, No. 26 Brigham Young and No. 32 Arizona State.

Arkansas is ranked No. 9 in the nation and the Razorbacks have been in the top 10 all season. The top two teams in each of six regionals advance to the NCAA Championship, which is April 22-24 in Gainesville, Fla. Arkansas has earned a spot in a regional for the seventh straight year and reached the NCAA Championship three times, including each of the last two seasons.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 and the coaches will speak around noon. Student-athletes may also attend.

The meal costs $12, and includes food with a choice of three entrees, drink and tip.

Earlier this week, senior All-American Casey Jo Magee and sophomore All-American Jaime Pisani were named to the All-Southeastern Conference team.
