Luncheon Wednesday at FCC

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The second luncheon of the year with Arkansas gymnastics co-head coaches Mark and René Cook is set for Wednesday at Fayetteville Country Club at 11:30 a.m.

Luncheons are held the first Wednesday of every month throughout the season.

The Cooks will recap last week’s win over No. 12 Kentucky in which the Razorbacks posted the top score in the nation for the week with a 196.750.

The win and that score moved Arkansas up in the rankings from No. 10 to No. 7.

The Cooks will also preview Friday’s home meet against No. 16 Auburn. The meet is at 7 p.m. in Barnhill Arena.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 and the coaches will speak around noon. Student-athletes may be able to attend some of the luncheons.

The meal costs $12, and includes food with a choice of three entrees, drink and tip.

The Auburn meet is being presented by Fayetteville Health & Rehab. The first 1,000 fans receive Tyson Foods Trading Cards, there will be a UA student drawing for a Blu-Ray player, gymnasts will meet with fans and sign autographs after the meet and all kids are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

As part of National Girl & Women in Sports Day, Dr. Mary Ann Turner will be recognized as a pioneer of women’s gymnastics on the West Coast.

The meet is also being televised by ESPNU and will air in a tape-delay broadcast on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m.
