FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Incoming freshman Rashad Ky Madden was named the Most Outstanding Player for the East squad in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Men’s Basketball All-Star game on Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena after notching a double-double with a game high 16 points and 13 rebounds, leading his east squad to a 77-70 victory.
Madden teamed up with another incoming Razorback, Hunter Mickelson, in the contest and both players made their mark on the game as they combined for 16 points, 20 of the East’s 56 rebounds, two assists, one steal and seven blocked shots in approximately 38 minutes of action.
The game was even throughout the five-period affair with the West holding leads following the third and fourth periods, but the East made its move in the fourth period as it scored 22 points over the eight minute and another 21 in the final period. Madden played in the first, fourth and fifth periods while Mickelson was showcased in the second, fourth and fifth. The two future Razorbacks were on the floor together for most of the fifth period when their team outscored their opponent 21-13.
Madden and Mickelson are two members of a highly touted recruiting class for the Razorback basketball team that ranks as high as No. 5 in the nation.
