Magee Pisani named All-SEC

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas senior Casey Jo Magee and sophomore Jaime Pisani have each been named to the gymnastics All-Southeastern Conference team, the league announced.

Magee is a first-team selection in the all-around category while Pisani is second team on floor. They are the fourth and fifth selections in program history, and this is the second straight year the Razorbacks have two student-athletes on the team. Last year, Magee was a first-team selection on beam while Michelle Stout, who is missing the season with an injury but will be back for her senior season next year, was second-team on vault.

Magee is the first two-time All-SEC selection in program history. She has broken the school record in the all-around three times this season and currently holds the mark with a 39.675 against No. 2 Oklahoma. Magee set a school meet record with a 39.400 at the SEC Championship to place third.

Pisani has tied the school record with a 9.95 on floor and tied the school meet record with a 9.90 at the SEC Championship to tie for second.

Arkansas is competing in the NCAA West Regional at UCLA at Saturday at 8 p.m. (central). The Razorbacks, ranked No. 9 in the nation, are the No. 2 seed. Host UCLA, ranked No. 3, is the top seed. Other teams in the region are No. 17 Iowa State, No. 21 Arizona, No. 26 Brigham Young and No. 32 Arizona State.

The top two teams from each of the six regionals advance to the NCAA Championship, which is April 22-24 in Gainesville, Fla. Arkansas has earned a spot in an NCAA Regional for the seventh straight season and has advanced to the NCAA Championship each of the last two years. A year ago, the Razorbacks reached the NCAA Super Six for the first time and finished fifth in the nation.
