Mahon wins Missouri Women's Amateur

FAYETTEVILLE — Former University of Arkansas women’s golfer Courtney Mahon successfully defended her Missouri State Amateur title this week. Mahon, who won the 2005 title, carded rounds of 77-75-69 for the victory at The Club at Porto Cima in Lake Ozark, Mo. The Topeka, Kan, native completed her eligibility in June leading the Lady Razorbacks to the program’s second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and a program best 10th-place showing. Mahon competed in every event over her four-year career at Arkansas and was one of the most consistent golfers in program history. Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis is also scheduled to compete this week at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Ohio. Play for Lewis begins with an 8:20 a.m., tee time off the first tee. She will be paired with Angela Jerman and Sun Young You if the weather holds. Play was cancelled Wednesday due to inclement weather. For more information about Arkansas golf. Log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
