Make it Four in a Row with Road Win

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior co-captain Danielle Harbin put down a match-high 21 kills and Barbara Dapic added a season-high 15 kills in Wednesday night’s four-set road win over South Carolina. The Razorbacks have now won four in a row and six of their last eight. Sophomore libero Okiana Valle picked up team-high 17 digs while Savannah Voelzke registered her sixth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 15 digs.

Arkansas’ next home match—and Senior Day—is this Saturday, Nov. 26, when the team hosts ninth-ranked Florida at Barnhill Arena. First serve of the Razorbacks’ season finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT) with a pre-match ceremony for the team’s six seniors.

Harbin registered her eighth match of the season with 20 or more kills with six of those matches coming against conference opponents. After a shaky start—hitting .067 (7-5-30) in the first two sets—Harbin responded with 14 kills and a .650 hitting percentage (14-1-20) over sets three and four. With her 14th kill of the match, the Mobile, Alabama, native became the 13th player in program history to tally 450 kills in a single season.

On the strength of her season-high performance, Dapic posted her third-consecutive match with 10 or more kills. She had just one attack error in 26 swings to finish the match with a .538 hitting percentage, another season high. Freshman setter Rachel Rippee dished out 48 assists to go along with six digs, three service aces, three blocks and two kills. Along with her defensive effort, Valle added two aces. The Razorbacks combined for seven aces in the match.

With the match tied at 1-1, the teams engaged in a back-and-forth third frame that featured 23 ties and nine lead changes. Arkansas (9-20, 7-10 SEC) took the first two-point lead by either team at 18-16 after consecutive errors by the home team. South Carolina (18-11, 6-11 SEC) had a set point at 24-23 but the Razorbacks turned to Harbin who delivered three-straight kills to give her team the 2-1 match lead.

The fourth set was tied at 12-all when Arkansas rattled off eight of nine points, taking a 20-13 lead on the scoreboard after a Gamecock attack error. The Razorbacks took an eight-point advantage—their largest margin of the night—at 22-14 with another Harbin kill. Voelzke gave her team match point with her 10th kill and two points later, Dapic pounded her final kill to secure the four-set victory.
