Matysak joins athletic training staff

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tricia Matysak joins the University of Arkansas Athletic Department staff as the Head Athletic Trainer for Olympic Sports it was announced today.

Matysak will oversee the management of Olympic sports such as women’s basketball, golf, cross country and track and field along with swimming and diving, volleyball, soccer and softball. She will also become the primary athletic trainer for the Razorback volleyball team.

"Tricia is a great addition to our athletic training room staff," said Vice Chancellor and Athletic Director Jeff Long. "She has more than a decade of athletic training experience including tenures with two Southeastern Conference programs. I’m confident she understands the health and safety of our student-athletes is our first priority."

Matysak joins Arkansas after five seasons at Kentucky where she served as a senior athletic trainer. She worked with the women’s basketball team and had secondary duties with women’s golf, rifle and volleyball. In addition, she supervised women’s health issues and protocols.

Matysak spent four years as the men’s soccer and men’s and women’s lacrosse athletic trainer at Notre Dame prior to her time with the Wildcats. She did her post-graduate work at Auburn from 1999-2001.

A native of Knox, Ind., Matysak is a 1999 graduate of Purdue with a degree in athletic training. She earned her master’s degree at Auburn in 2001.
