McCrotty Shuts Down UTSA in 4-1 UA Victory
SAN ANTONIO – Wes McCrotty struck out eight and scattered five hits in 7 2/3 innings as Arkansas (2-2) avoided a three-game sweep with a 4-1 win at UTSA (2-5) Sunday at Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium.

McCrotty (2-0) held the Roadrunners scoreless until the eighth when Justin Brandt singled to score Danny Phillips for UTSA’s only run. Roadrunner starter Brian Eck (0-2) did not allow a hit but struggled with his control, walking six Razorback batters in 2 1/3 innings.

Jeremy Rankin pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the Razorbacks to earn his first save in two seasons at Arkansas.

Arkansas capitalized on a pair of walks and an error to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. UA added two runs in the seventh when pinch hitter Andrew Wishy knocked a leadoff double off the right-field wall and scored on a single by Luke Weatherford. Wishy scored on a groundout for a 4-0 UA lead.

Arkansas returns to Baum Stadium at George Cole Field for a three-game series with Long Beach State this weekend. The series begins Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
