McDonnell and Gay Named as Regions Best

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A week after leading the University of Arkansas to a dominant showing at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships head coach John McDonnell and Razorback junior sprinter Tyson Gay were named the Mideast Regional Coach and Athlete of the Year, respectively. The honor is given annually by the United States Track Coaches Association (USTCA).
Besides showing his strength by running in six races in two days, Gay captured first place in the three event finals he competed in. He was a member of the victorious 4×100-meter relay team that put together a time of 39.18, while he handled the third leg.
