McFadden Named Semifinalist for Maxwell Award

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas junior Darren McFadden is one of 15 semifinalists for The Maxwell Award, presented annually to the collegiate player of the year in football. Maxwell Football Club President, Ron Jaworski, announced the semifinalist list, selected by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee, for the 71st Maxwell Award on Wednesday.

McFadden leads the Southeastern Conference and ranks fourth in the nation with an average of 146.0 rushing yards per game. The Little Rock, Ark., native set a UA record and tied an SEC record last weekend with 321 rushing yards in a win over No. 23 South Carolina.

The announcement of the winner of the Maxwell Award will be made during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show that will be broadcast on ESPN on Thursday Dec. 6, 2007. Three finalists for the award will be in attendance for the ESPN broadcast. The formal presentation of the awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club’s Awards Dinner, to be held on Friday March 7, 2008 at the Harrah’s Entertainment Complex in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Voting for all three of the collegiate awards presented by the Maxwell Football Club will begin on Wednesday November 7th and close on Friday November 30th.
