Men's Golf Adds Event, Plays at New Mexico This Weekend

William H. Tucker Live Scoring/Results

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After having its tournament rained out in Cincinnati earlier this week. The 17th-ranked Arkansas men’s golf team has added an event to the schedule and will play at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate this weekend (Sept. 28-29). The annual event is hosted by New Mexico and will be played on the par-72, 7,555-yard UNM Championship South Golf Course.

“We were fortunate to be able to join this tournament,” said head coach Brad McMakin. “This is a respected event nationally and are thankful New Mexico was able to add us on short notice after we were rained out at the Bearcat Invitational. Our guys are anxious to get back out on the course.”

Host and #41-ranked New Mexico will welcome the 17th-ranked Razorbacks, 23rd-ranked UNLV Rebels, #26 Pepperdine Waves and #43 San Diego State Aztecs as well as Air Force, Coastal Carolina, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Loyola Marymount, Nebraska, New Mexico State, UT Arlington, UTEP and Wyoming. Arkansas is a combined 3-0 versus three programs in the field, including Coastal Carolina, New Mexico and San Diego State.

This will be the first time Arkansas has played in New Mexico’s tournament.

Coach McMakin will send junior Mason Overstreet, junior William Buhl, freshman Julian Perico, junior Luis Garza and junior Tyson Reeder while freshman Wil Gibson will play as an individual. The format of the even is the traditional five, count four with four of the top scores each day comprising the team score.
